When working on a renovation project, we like to reach out to local craftsmen to help create and implement our designs.  It is especially gratifying when we find a new vendor who understands the design process and is dedicated to quality.  It increases our ability to create a fine product for our clients and also connects us to our community.

We recently worked with two such vendors on a basement renovation and were thrilled with the outcomes.  Take a look…

Basement Renovation

As part of the renovation, we wanted guests to have a place to sit their drinks while playing pool.  Our concept was to create a drink ledge to serve that purpose, but would also add an interesting element to the overall design.  We wanted the ledge to have character and history in an otherwise modern space.  In addition, it was to feel as if it was floating on the stone wall.  We reached out to Shenandoah Furniture Gallery in Purceville, VA.  They have a beautiful showroom right on Main Street and were fabulous to work with.  They created a gorgeous hand-planed shelf from reclaimed wood for us and it truly enhances the space.

We also wanted the stairway to feel more modern and clean.  We achieved this by removing the existing drywall, handrail and carpet.  We kept the stair wall as open as possible to create a dramatic entrance into the space.  We reached out to Loudoun Stairs in Purceville, VA to help us design the new look.  The new stairway includes stainless steel cables and custom stained handrail, plate and posts.  Loudoun Stairs creativity and attention to detail was second to none!
